This time last year a song about the sleepy pink salamander/hippo character was released. It made fans groove to the reggae-like beat.
It features Slowpokes rolling, wagging their tails, dancing happily, albeit sluggishly, to the music.
In a couple of scenes they’re seen biting each other’s tails, dawdlingly moving in a circle.
Now that scene, with the Japanese lyrics, might not seem creepy at all. But wait till you hear the English translation.
In what seems to be a funny play on Slowpoke’s character, our Pokemon bosses only had the English version of this popular song released a year after the original.
And now non-Japanese speakers can groove to the song anew—happily and/or shockingly. Either way, it’s a solid earworm you’ll be humming for days.
”Your big mouth
Like a supermarket door
Open seven/twenty-four (Slowpoke)”
